Leicester City were apparently tracking a Real Madrid striker during the summer transfer window. Now a loan is being touted for Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic.

Could it be back on? Will Leicester City take a chance on a footballing superpower’s asset? Foxes of Leicester takes a look.

At the weekend it was reported that the Foxes retained their interest in Real Madrid’s Serbian attacker Luka Jovic. During the past transfer window the east Midlands outfit had been linked with a move for the 22-year-old, which never materialised.

While the Blue Army certainly desires additions and improvements to the attacking line, Brendan Rodgers stated towards the end of the previous campaign that funds wouldn’t allow it. Despite his own musings, before that point, that new forward-thinking signings would benefit his team.

This is why a temporary deal for Jovic sounds best for everyone involved. A loan-to-buy option could be tempting for the Foxes; obviously if the Serb doesn’t perform, they doesn’t need to buy him. Although, if he is a goalscoring wonder, a deal is there.

The claim stating Leicester are considering a loan offer for the player emerged from Sunday Mirror, with The Boot Room picking up on the suggestion. They have also named West Ham United as fancying the player.

Jovic rose to prominence after scoring an abundance of goals in the Bundesliga, with former side Eintracht Frankfurt. Along with a particularly impressive Europa League finishing record – the competition the King Power club current compete in. Unfortunately for Jovic, the heroics haven’t been repeated for los Blancos, where he has struggled.
