Leicester City are to reignite their long-term interest in Braga defender Bruno Viana, despite the 4-0 victory over the Portuguese side in the Europa League last night, according to reports.

Leicester City made it three wins from three in their Europa League campaign after brushing aside Braga in spectacular fashion.

Kelechi Iheanacho continued his fine form by getting on the score sheet twice to set the Foxes on their way. The Nigerian then turned provider by finding Dennis Praet with a lovely pass – yes it was a pass – and then James Maddison rounded off the scoring and his fine performance with a well taken goal.

So, with that kind of victory you would be asking yourself why Brendan Rodgers and co. are looking at buying one of the opponents defenders.

Well, O Jogo reported that this was a good opportunity for the Brazilian to ‘show his qualities live’ and impress Leicester directly. A ‘game to show off’, and refresh transfer interest.

Viana didn’t do that at all, having been turned by Iheanacho which created a chance that was smartly saved by Matheus in the Braga goal. It never got any better for the 25-year-old who was sloppy all night, but with a scintillating performance from the group leaders, you can forgive him can’t you.

The outlet claims that the player has been wanted by the Foxes twice in his career, with his form in the 2018/19 season drawing attention from Leicester City scouts, and there were observations last season as well.

The Premier League side never engaged in ‘concrete talks’ with Braga, but there were approaches and ‘evaluations’ made. The newspaper claims that besides the Foxes, Leeds United have also held an interest in recent years.

The 25 Year Old is quick, aggressive and a good header of the ball, but with a shaky performance and with Leicester already signing the incredible Wesley Fofana, and with O Jogo saying that this was ‘his chance to show his qualities’ it might halt any further transfer progress.
