Leicester City have reportedly made an approach for a player wanted by Liverpool and Manchester United. He also has a £40 million release clause.

With a Premier League match upcoming against champions Liverpool on Sunday, then a trip to Portugal for a Thursday evening game versus Braga, it’s going to be another long and testing gameweek for Leicester City.

Talking of the Reds, Jurgen Klopp‘s Recruitment department are apparently after the same player as Leicester. In fact, so are Manchester United – if reports are to be believed.

Nuno Mendes is the man in question. Well, he’s only just become a man at the tender age of 18. Currently he’s with Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon. Actually, even his president at the club, Frederico Varandas, says Mendes’ skill set is “dazzling”.

Who is Leicester City target Nuno Mendes?

Mendes is a left-back, and, even though he isn’t 20 yet, he’s already representing Portugal’s Under-21s. Varandas claims that the defender will definitely play for the senior international team, at some point.

According to Sport Witness, Mendes has a €45 million release clause. Furthermore, the outlet states that Sporting are keen to raise that amount via a new contract. Although, negotiations haven’t yet begun between club and asset.

While the Foxes are yet to make a tangible bid for Mendes, they have made their interest in the attack-minded, adventurous left-sided defensive-man known, as per HITC.
