Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has revealed that the secret to their blistering start to the season is swapping training for recovery sessions.

After eight games Leicester City sit at the top of the Premier League with six wins and also maintain a 100 per cent record in the Europa League, leading Group G.

Nevertheless, such a busy fixture list due to the unique nature of this season places severe demands on the players. Many teams including the league leaders have suffered multiple injuries.

With almost every day of the week being filled with matches and training, fitness becomes a concern. It comes as no surprise that Youri Tielemans revealed that the Foxes, in fact, don’t do a lot of training at all.

"“We don’t train much. It is more recovery and looking after our legs to manage it between the games” he said.“We try and do something tactically to look at the opponent we are going to play but it is all about recovery really.“As soon as the game is finished you can enjoy it that night but then you have to be mentally ready to keep going.”"

Boss Brendan Rodgers says he could not have wished for a better start to the season as his side looks to better the 5th place of the previous campaign.

But the manager admits Leicester’s current form will be very difficult to maintain.

"Rodgers said: “It is going to be tough to sustain all the way through with injuries and how close the games are.“Our idea is to look to sustain that. But I can’t promise. I would love to say we will win every game but we won’t and we will lose games.“If anyone says us not getting into the Champions League is failing then OK. The experience of last year has allowed us to grow and develop as a team.”"

Rodgers’ side travel to the current champions and closest challengers Liverpool in a mouth watering clash on Sunday evening. Both teams have a stack of injury concerns and absentees galore. For Liverpool Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez are all unavailable; while Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are doubtful for the English top-flight clash.

Whereas Leicester have had slightly more luck, as doubts for the match Timothy Castagne and Wesley Fofana have been photographed back in a practice session.
