In recent times Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes is finally, consistently showing the form that made him such a valued prospect.

Winning the admiration of Manchester City guru Pep Guardiola and Liverpool mastermind Jurgen Klopp is no simple feat. That’s what Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes has done.

Gaining Gareth Southgate’s praise and selection seems slightly more easy, judging by some of the England additions, but Barnes earned his place in the senior international squad, too. If the Burnley-born man maintains his current form, he’ll be straight back onto the Three Lions set-up.

Nevertheless, we shouldn’t get too carried away here. He’s not on that Riyad Mahrez level quite yet. Minor and major flaws I’ve noticed of Barnes on occasion, include: weakness as well as a lack of vision on the ball along with his end product still not being constantly of the highest proficiency.

However, should the player, who I mustn’t forget is still only 23, refine those areas of his game – we could be talking about the numbers put up by Mahrez. Possibly even potentially equatable to Sadio Mane, or even his partner in crime, Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah. Maybe not that amazing, but you get the gist that Barnes can be a Leicester great at the minimum.

One element of Barnes’ performances that could also be a reason for the inconsistency that led to being dropped from the starting eleven could be belief. And Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers seemed to confirm that:

"“His confidence at the level is improving all the time. Last season was his first full season at Premier League level so we’re trying to get him into areas to score more goals and to take more risks in the final third. He practices a lot, he’s working on his finishing and shooting all the time.”– Brendan RodgersVia Leicestershire Live"

Hot. The clubs eyeing a free deal for Demarai Gray. light

Now that the January transfer window is open, there may be exits and arrivals on Filbert Way. Demarai Gray and Islam Slimani are the most likely to leave Leicestershire. While the Foxes boss hasn’t ruled out making some signings. Although, more significant incoming players are always more feasible for the summer as opposed to the new year.
