Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly one of the candidates to replace Spurs manager Jose Mourinho should he be sacked.

Leicester fans will know this feeling all too much. A supposed top club linking themselves with Brendan Rodgers who currently sits higher in the table.

In many ways it’s very flattering, as it shows how well the Northern Irishman is doing. Sitting joint second in the league, in the knock rounds of the Europa League and the quarter final of the FA Cup is such a tremendous achievement.

Every player has improved, and the net spend is next to nothing. In my opinion what he has achieved so far has bettered anything the current Premier League managers are doing.

Mourinho and Spurs have and always will be a weird match. A historically low spending club with a historically demanding manager would never really work.

It seems only last week that we were talking about Tottenham being title contenders, but with 12 points in 12 games, the wheels have come off and it’s increasingly likely that Jose will pay the price, the only sticky point is the inevitable big pay out.

With the Daily Mail saying that Chairman Daniel Levy is an admirer of Rodgers, it looks like the North London club will definitely make an approach.

"RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann has admirers at Spurs, as does Brendan Rodgers — but neither is a realistic target until the summer and getting the Northern Irishman from Leicester would be very costly.– By Sami Mokbel"

My view of Rodgers’ connection is that the move shouldn’t happen: he’s building something incredible in the East Midlands, and with Leicester surely now an established Premier League club that is challenging for Europe every year, why move to a club that is clearly unstable and in need of a clear out. Let’s just hope this is another silly rumour.
