Leicester City are manoeuvring in order to keep an up-and-coming prospect from being poached by other clubs.

Occasionally within crises – in the Foxes’ case a contemporary, almost insurmountable injury disaster – positive change can occur. On Filbert Way there could be new stars or important first team members ascended from the youth contingent.

Nevertheless, manager Brendan Rodgers finds himself in a quite precarious position of having to balance his roster without eight senior players. Around five or six of whom are considered starting personnel and currently sit sidelined.

One of the youthful, promising talents is Sidnei Tavares. The Portuguese has been the focus of a few transfer reports, or rumours, of late. That is partly due his rise as a very decent prospect for the future King Power team; another element leading to prospective elevation is, of course, fitness problems.

Talk of Leicester City asset leaving for free

Foxes of Leicester published an article earlier in the week containing a suggestion that the 19-year-old wants to leave the club and that his contract is expiring. Furthermore, there are many sides supposedly interested in acquiring his services for free.

Though talks are ongoing between LCFC, Tavares and his representatives; the boss also confirmed that the former is enjoying himself at Leicester.

Rodgers rates the attacking midfielder:

"“He [Tavares] has great qualities, he’s 6ft 2, has a wonderful view of the game, he covers the ground well, he can see a pass, he has a nice touch.“He needs to get stronger, he needs to have a greater physicality to compete, but he has potential.”– Brendan Rodgers on Sidnei TavaresVia Leicestershire Live"

In fact, the manager gave the Academy graduate his Europa League debut and wanted to hand him a maiden EPL game, but injuries ended that dream for now. Whether it is only because of circumstance doesn’t matter, the player is on the precipice and there is even speculation of him beginning against Burnley. Nothing could convince an athlete that they should stay more!

Incidentally, the advanced midfield role is now technically completely vacant in the Leicester side thanks to injuries. Unless you count Kelechi Iheanacho or Youri Tielemans as suitable No.10s – which I don’t after both attempted to play as the specialist. Ayoze Perez is back training but unavailable for the next two games, according to the Northern Irishman.

Transitioning from prospect to prominence isn’t easy in any environment – the Premier League should possibly be thought of as one of the toughest arenas to make it in, especially in sports. However, nows the time, Sidnei!
