Leicester City legend explains why Brendan Rodgers won’t leave
Leicester City legend Matt Elliott explains why the Foxes’ superb manager, Brendan Rodgers, won’t quit the King Power club.
Elliott lifted the League Cup as Leicester captain so he’s definitely a hero for the east Midlands side. That status lends preference to his opinion on the Foxes, certainly with regard to on field matters; ex-professional footballers can also offer great insight into off the field issues, including what players or bosses may be legitimately considering.
With regard to Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, Elliot has a few points to make which will hopefully reassure the Blue Army about the potential longevity of the Northern Irishman‘s reign on Filbert Way.
Speaking to Goal, the formerly imposing centre-back opined over Tottenham Hotspur’s supposed interest in Rodgers. Hearsay suggests the latter may take over from current Spurs gaffer, Jose Mourinho:
"“There’s always that worry [that any talent will be poached] for a club like Leicester [smaller in stature than the established big six], even though they’re growing and developing…“There’s lots to be at Leicester City for…“It’s inevitable really that he’ll [Brendan Rodgers] be linked with other clubs as that is a reflection of how well he’s performing.“If I was Brendan Rodgers, would I go to Tottenham? To be honest, no.”– Matt Elliott"
Leicester City news for 2021/22
There is some speculation to bring you now – which is hopefully not invented for once – involving when the transfer window will open this summer. When not under pandemic conditions, the time for switches usually began and ended earlier. And there should be a slight return to normality next season.
According to Sky Sports (via Leicestershire Live), the opening for English and Scottish top-flights’ deals could possibly be June 9, then finishing on August 31. But wait, just as you expect typical order, because this is information is yet to be confirmed by Premier League officials. Sky reports that those dates are listed on FIFA’s Transfer Matching System website.
