Leicester City are apparently targeting impressive Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai for a possible summer transfer swoop, according to a report.

Wes Morgan’s and Jonny Evans’ combined age is 70, as Morgan is 37, and Evans is now 33. While the Northern Irishman certainly has a good couple of years still in the tank at the top of the game, the Jamaican is on his last legs, so to speak.

Hopefully Morgan will remain with the Foxes in a coaching or executive capacity. He is one of the best known club legends as captain presently – technically, as Kasper Schmeichel is the on-field skipper – and, more importantly, when Leicester lifted the Premier League title in 2016. Regardless of this, it is probably time the former retired from playing; at an elite standard anyway, Morgan still has something to offer in lesser divisions.

Anyway, new blood is a necessity, and the Foxes are experts in selecting unknown to relatively rated players and subsequently turning them into world-class assets. One centre-back who is said to be on their transfer shortlist is Hungarian Attila Szalai

Szalai, 23, is currently winning admirers in Turkey with Fenerbahce, and securing himself a regular starting spot. The Sun, as per Blikk via Sport Witness, states that the Turks may command a fee for the defender which would make him the most expensive player in Hungary’s history.

Next up for Leicester City

Last time out, the Foxes ran into a Manchester City-shaped brick wall. The saddest element for the Blue Army – trust me it was upsetting to lose like that, when the Citizens didn’t have to get out of third gear – was that LCFC just didn’t ‘turn up’ on the day.

Even on an off day or against the premier opposition, as a fan you’re at least hoping for 100 per cent effort to be given and belief to be present – especially as we are the ‘Fearless Foxes’. Unfortunately MCFC were fairly unchallenged winners on the occasion.

Nevertheless, the east Midlands side have recharged, been briefed and will now be focussed and ready for the trip to play West Ham United in London. Just like Leicester, the Hammers are enjoying a fantastic season overall, and actually defeated Sunday’s opponents at King Power Stadium earlier in the campaign.
