This approach is a smart one from Rodgers as there is no point in deciding Lookman’s future based on only half of the season. I suspect that it won’t be until April or May that they will make a final decision on Lookman. However, if he can keep on providing moments of magic, then I see that decision being a very easy one for the club.

There is a problem though. Asking if Leicester should sign Lookman, and asking if they actually will, are two very different questions. In light of recent results, we’ve heard an increasing amount of talk about an overhaul of players in the summer, with a fair few high-profile departures and signings.

Currently, it seems as if Youri Tielemans will be on his way out of the club, as well as a possible exit for Caglar Soyuncu. Whilst both would earn Leicester a fair amount of money (around £40m for each), replacing them would also require a hefty fee.

Thinking about it logically, in the summer Leicester will be looking at signing a new central midfielder, at least one new centre back and a right winger. There are also possibilities of them signing a new goalkeeper and fullback. Now, you may think that Lookman could be that right winger, but he isn’t.
