Wout Faes eventually departed from Leicester City on Tuesday afternoon. Though the move is only temporary at the moment, an option to buy is written into his loan transfer agreement with French Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco. The Foxes fans are pretty pleased that somebody who they believed was a counterproductive and dangerous defender is off the books. Even if he only has one foot out of the door, so to speak.

Since joining the Red and Whites less than 24 hours ago, the Belgium international has already spoken to the media, naturally. Of course, the centre back with something to prove spoke of his delight at moving to the South of France, and specifically Monaco. Those remarks were in addition to the mandatory, typical niceties and pleasantries associated with in-house and courteous interviews upon signing for a new club, especially in a new country or environment.

Yet the most interesting and juiciest information that this site can glean, obviously, concerns Leicester City Football Club! And the 27-year-old (he looks older to be fair, so that fact was checked) has done what other professionals usually don't: be honest about their feelings towards their old club (he's only on loan, to be fair). Not to mention Faes disclosing what the sentiment was like regarding him at King Power Stadium.

Wout Faes has admitted a desire to leave Leicester city while his replacement Ben Nelson makes a battle call to weaponise Blue Army

As Faes slowly lost his place in the the starting XI, then Leicester squad as his manager's trust evaporated, the baller whom the faithful wanted to take over was installed. Ben Nelson hasn't looked back since November 2025. The 21-year-old wishes for supporters to back the 'still viable' promotion bid.

"We feel it as players, we feel like how they [fans] must feel and we have sympathy for that, but we need their backing to keep going to push you over the line."

Nelson is a lifelong Leicester fan, former Foxes ball boy and a player that has come through the club's academy.

He insists the Championship remains "wide open" this season and that Leicester's chances of making an immediate Premier League return should not be written off.

"We are really confident that we can push on now," he said.

"If we build a run, we know we can climb the table quickly.""

Meanwhile, Faes opened up on the City management not wanting him. While making clear the feeling was mutual:

"Honestly, there was a desire to leave, from both sides. [Last summer] there were contacts with a few clubs, but that didn’t happen, and then the manager (Martí Cifuentes) reintegrated me. For one reason or another, it didn’t work out.

It didn’t happen because of Leicester’s position. There was a situation that has now presented itself, which means that the stars have aligned and I am happy to be here."
