A sluggish start to the New Year isn't something Leicester City Football Club's fan base are used to. Sure, they are all too familiar with a Boxing Day disaster on the pitch. This website covered that situation comprehensively and, hopefully, entertainingly. Yet January 1 was always typically a decent showing for the East Midlands outfit. Sheffield United totally changed those expectations, or the impression, when they met at Bramall Lane on that date of this year.
Although, the Foxes have also been rather inactive in the winter transfer market so far. Without being hyper critical of the King Power organisation (yet it is very easy to do so and often the natural direction), this is another worry for the Blue Army now that the month is half done with!
However, Wout Faes was finally booted out of the door on Tuesday, January 13. But that is only a loan to AS Monaco with an option to buy (thankfully); read more comprehensively about that specific transaction by clicking here.
With respect to signings, even getting potentially credible information about City's intent or activity is slim pickings right now, as they say. Michail Antonio's proposed arrival died on the vine. Other supposedly wanted players such as Dan Neil appear to be going elsewhere. Meanwhile there has not been any more news on the Leicestershire side's apparent chase of West Ham United striker Callum Wilson since the claim broke. Maybe more of City's personnel must depart before they complete any loans or arrange free transfers (or permanently sign somebody, which is totally unlikley.
The Leicester City stars who are said to be on the chopping board following Wout Faes' temporary exit
Boubakary Soumare is reportedly wanted elsewhere - though not particularly in LE2. He also has an expiring contract. Harry Winks has seemingly fallen out with manager Marti Cifuentes; another whose deal ends soon.
"The pair [Winks and Faes] need to be sold this month so that they, City and Cifuentes can move on. While they have those four, City don’t need any deals there. However, Cifuentes has admitted he “cannot predict” Soumare’s future with just six months left on his deal and with Monaco circling."Leicester Mercury
