Leicester City fans would have been overjoyed seeing the back of the 2025/26 season, when the full-time whistle was sounded at Blackburn Rovers.
The Foxes are submerged in an almighty mess at the moment, having succumbed to the devastating fate of back-to-back relegations all the way down to League One.
Where do the one-time Premier League winners go from here?
They will certainly be looking to trim down their bloated squad significantly, with one too many fragile egos needing to be moved on fast, who would hate the challenge of playing in the EFL's third division.
Reports seem to indicate that they will be handed a whopping £10m to build a new squad, with the right profile of player needing to be obtained, to learn from their past errors.
Leicester have a big transfer window ahead
Indeed, Leicester need to wisely use this money on players who know what it takes to battle away in the third tier and be a success, instead of splashing the cash on washed-up prima donnas.
Already, Leicester look to be shopping in circles that suit them, with the possible acquisition of Lorent Tolaj from Plymouth Argyle just the sort of player they should be targeting, as the Pilgrims' hotshot has 22 goals next to his name this season in all competitions, 19 of which came in League One.
Having risen up the football league, too, he would be champing at the bit to be Leicester's brand-new hero up top, as a return to the Championship is instantly targetted.
Snapping up Archie Collins, too, who has just been made available on a free transfer from Peterborough United, could also be a worthwhile signing to explore, with Harry Winks' impending departure leaving the Foxes possibly light centrally.
Just winning Posh's Player of the Season accolade, with two goals and seven assists next to his name in League One this season, he could be viewed as another shrewd pick-up, as he knows League One like the back of his hand.
Ultimately, though, you can have all the talent you want and the season could still be viewed as an abject failure, if you don't get the managerial appointment spot on, with an appointment needing to be finalised shortly, before any transfer talk dominates Leicester conversations.
Leicester need to get this appointment spot on
Leicester know all too well the stinging pain of getting a managerial appointment disastrously wrong, with Ruud Van Nistelrooy sending the Foxes down in dire fashion at the close of last season.
Gary Rowett has entered into this complete failure bracket this season, with a squad that boasts the likes of Patson Daka - who once boasted a ten-goal return in the Premier League - still slipping to League One under his stewardship.
He has remained tight-lipped on whether he'll be sticking it out, but with only two wins in charge - one of which came after Leicester's relegation fate was already confirmed - it would be a risk expecting the experienced EFL boss to be a success in the heat of League One.
Leicester needs to appoint a manager who will be willing to give his all, who knows the third tier well, with Darren Ferguson possibly best suited to this challenge, having been a three-time promotion winner when fighting it out at the level previously.
Likewise, Leicester could feel the best option is to turn to Christian Fuchs as an ex-player who knows the passion of the club first-hand.
Whatever decision is made, it will hopefully be done with care and thought attached, with far too many of Leicester's appointments in recent years feeling scattergun, rather than thought through meticulously.
