Last night was woeful as far as Leicester fans are concerned. They were beaten by Hull City despite seeing much more of the ball (64%) and taking twice as many shots (18) as Hull (9).
For Leicester, it was more a tale of hitting and hoping. They got themselves into some good positions, but there was frankly not a player in the pitch who you'd rely on to put the ball in Hull's net.
And, as cliché and 'duh' as this sounds, that's kind of the point of football. There's no point having more possession if you can't score - in fact, that makes the possession even more annoying.
So, yeah, we're about to hit you with yet another 'duh.'
Leicester desperately needs a center forward in January
Leicester needs a center forward they can rely on. We've said it before, but last night, it became even more of a necessity.
There is not a player in the squad who you'd look at and point out as being a Championship top goal scorer candidate. That might seem harsh to say, but frankly, it's the truth.
Sure, Leicester scores goals from all over the pitch, but we've seen that play out way too many times before. When it comes down to it, the Foxes need a center forward who can score a goal out of nothing.
Gone are the days of Jamie Vardy, unfortunately. Now, it's time for Leicester to turn towards a new hero.
It seems painfully obvious to say this, but Leicester needs to sign a center forward in January. If they can only sign one player in one position, please let it be a center forward.
Granted, there are other holes in the Foxes squad. It would take more than just a striker to fix things for Cifuentes, but let's be real here, a center forward who can score week in, week out would immediately improve Leicester.
If they could just put the ball in the net, then the frustration wouldn't be nearly as high as it is right now.
Right now, it's still early in Martí Cifuentes' Leicester career. He cannot be properly judged at this stage, even if a revolt is seemingly on the horizon. Truth be told, we haven't seem him with a squad that's good enough to win the Championship just yet.
As it stands, Leicester is far better off aiming for a playoff spot. This was always a likelier aspiration for the Foxes, and it's still on the cards.
