The two biggest teams in Scotland are said to be rivaling one another in order to add to their respective firepower. Rangers will now reportedly rival Celtic in an attempt to hijack a prospective marquee transfer. Of course, it is a notable and infamous English Premier League title-winner at the centre of the hearsay.

Intriguingly, bigger outlets including national media are now beginning to report on the subject. Will a Leicester City legend head to the Scottish Premiership before the transfer window slams shut? Or will the former England international go in a different direction? Let's examine what's been claimed regarding striker extraordinaire Jamie Vardy, formerly of the Foxes.

Jamie Vardy can't find a club?

You can't help yourself but think Vardy should already have a new footballing home at this point of the summer. Maybe he cannot agree on wages, or mid-level European clubs just aren't interested. That would be a shock, to be honest.

And I may be somewhat at fault for purveying that thought. Though I only ever go by three things: sources, available information and, ultimately, logic. Why hasn't a team taken a chance on Vards? Who knows. Although, I know he'd suit the Scots division!

Talk concerning Vardy had pretty much centred on Celtic for most of this week. That was until Wednesday, when Rangers reentered the speculative conversation. Three other sides supposedly join the Old Firm clubs in eyeing up the illustrious, veteran centre forward.

Hoops and Gers' recruitment chiefs have both apparently and separately spoken to Vards' representatives recently. Daily Mail, from whom the latest report emanated, also named other interested parties.

"Both [Scottish] clubs have made contact with the player's camp to register their interest in snapping him up, according to the Daily Mail. It is said that Brentford, Everton and Italian champions Napoli are looking to rival the Old Firm duo for Vardy's signature."

EPL outfits Brentford and Everton were cited, not to mention Serie A side Napoli. However, Vardy is in no ostensible rush: as a free agent he remains permitted to sign when the market closes. He'd be a big deal regardless of the destination.
