Leicester City champion Robert Huth on Harry Maguire dodging the Manchester United bullet
An update on former Leicester City champion Robert Huth. Along with his opinions on Harry Maguire’s avoidance of a move to Manchester United.
Former Leicester City champion Robert Huth left the club this summer following a season on the sidelines; as well as falling down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium.
Happily, the German is now fit and ready to relocate and settle in at a new team. Quite a few Championship sides linked with the centre-back, yet he is undecided or unmoved, so to speak, as of now.
Robert Huth on Leicester City’s Harry Maguire dodging a bullet
It was unimaginable to think of just a few years ago, but with the developing crisis at Manchester United, it now appears that Leicester City are the more likely to succeed in their aspirations. Not to mention, possibly the higher placed 2018/19 Premier League club, at this precise moment.
Consequently, Harry Maguire seems to have made the correct decision in staying in the East Midlands. Leicester City’s 2015/16 champion agrees; telling Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday this in a candid manner:
"“Looking back, he’ll be happy not to have signed for Man United with all the turmoil that’s gone on.“I think he’s got another year or two at Leicester, another 100 games for them, and he can really establish himself as one of the top guys in the league. Then the sky’s the limit for him if he wants to go to Man United, Man City, Chelsea.”(Via: Leicester Mercury)"
Ironically, at the end of his assertion, the 6-foot-three player contradictorily names Jose Mourinho’s team as a possible destination for Maguire. Although it must be said, whether Mourinho or another boss leads the Red Devils back to the promised land – it will happen sooner or later. The dynasty of Old Trafford will rise again.
What’s next for former Leicester City player Huth?
Well, the German may be on his way to Leeds United. The Mercury transcribed Huth’s chat with Goals on Sunday:
"“It’s perfect” came the reply to Ben Shephard’s question of whether Leeds “wouldn’t be too bad” a move for the defender. The German was a guest on Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday programme– Robert Huth (Via: Leicester Mercury)"
Now that is interesting: Huth is a passionate and determined player, who is arguably not at Premier League standard, due to age mainly. Yet, he is one who could help Leeds re-establish themselves in the top-flight.
34-year-old Huth will always be fondly remembered as a top-tier title winner with Leicester City.
Foxes of Leicester wishes the recently released Fox well with all future endeavours.
