Last summer Leicester City were apparently close to signing Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake, though the fee ended interest. Now Manchester City may sign him.

Squad depth is now a glaring issue for Brendan Rodgers, who should be criticised for some choices and decisions, but who has seen his roster obliterated by multiple injuries to viral players. Oh, and Caglar Soyuncu let himself down, along with Leicester City, as he was suspended for the remainder of the campaign due to immaturity.

Consequently, with others like the impressive Filip Benkovic loaned, the Northern Irishman at the helm deciding that’s the ideal time to use three centre-backs. Hence the reason Ryan Bennett is starting alongside a no longer premiership-fit Wes Morgan.

Please, somebody tell me – what have us City supporters done to deserve those two. Yes, Bennett is strong in the tackle and attempts to get forward to help, but he’s of Championship level. And Morgan, well the East Midlanders possible should have transitioned him to player/coach a couple of years ago.

Ideal Leicester City target slips away

Leicester have targeted Bournemouth star Nathan Ake before, the left-sided centre-half would be perfect for the Foxes. Unfortunately it appears Manchester City will now sign the Dutchman.

The 2019/20 Premier League finale for Leicester City is against Manchester United at King Power Stadium. It is a clash of tremendous magnitude, as the winner will take Champions League qualification. While simultaneously relegating the loser to mere Europa League competition. In all honesty, the latter tournament favours the contemporary Foxes team with regard to personnel and quality. An extensively successful pre-season transfer window would naturally elevate Rodgers’ side.
