Leicester transfer target unavailable, other options considered
It appears that, despite making an apparent £45-50 million bid, Leicester City won’t be able to sign Francisco Trincao as he’s “not for sale”.
For a while on Monday it appeared that Leicester City might have been on the precipice of making one of the most significant and potentially highly publicised pieces of business of the summer transfer window.
Alas, it wasn’t to be. Although it is still extremely newsworthy for multiple reasons, it seems as though Barcelona starlet Francisco Trincao won’t be joining the Foxes this window. His president at Barca, Josep Maria Bartomeu, emphatically stated that the starlet is “not for sale“.
The claim that the player has a €500 million release clause inserted into his contract has also been widely repeated. Therefore the apparent £45m bid from Leicester wasn’t even close to tempting Camp Nou bosses.
Before the 2020/21 season, Leicester will add attacking options; what needs to be understood is that the King Power outfit will currently be pursuing their most desired targets. If none of the top targets are acquired toward the end of the open market, unfortunately the club will settle for lesser choices. Or, in a move that would rile the Blue Army, probably recall Rachid Ghezzal or Fousseni Diabate from their respective loans.
Who will Leicester City look to?
According to suggestions elsewhere in sports media, Trincao’s offer was a two-year loan proposition. After that is when the near £50m price-tag would’ve been a stipulation. Anyway, the faithful as well as recruitment must move on now. It ‘ain’t gonna happen‘!
There are other wingman selections Leicester City are thought to be considering. With the chance to capture the Spain based attacker now failed, Brendan Rodgers may aim for prospects closer to home. Brentford’s Said Benrahma is linked and available for the right price; the same can be applied to Bournemouth’s David Brooks.
