The latest Leicester transfer rumour sounds quite far-fetched
When Kasper Schmeichel was linked to Manchester United last week, everyone raised an eyebrow. Now Chelsea are said to want Leicester City’s stopper.
Because of Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel’s obvious connection to Manchester United – his father, Peter, being a Red Devils legend and all – the transfer speculation seemed almost feasible. Especially with the excellent Dean Henderson’s apparent United snub, along with David De Gea’s suspect form.
But many still found it hard to believe that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would put his faith and burgeoning team into the hands of a ‘keeper who will turn 34-years-old in November. However, those unsure observers might have forgotten Edwin van der Sar and Fabien Barthez: both of whom, according to United folklore, were successful in career twilight at Old Trafford.
And, of course, we all now know that the Fox is a Man Utd supporter. Therefore, if a bid emerged it is absolutely a possibility that he would jump at the chance in delight at signing for the club he was so close to as a boy.
Chelsea also want Leicester City goalie
In football gossip early on Saturday morning was the latest story concerning possible movements on Filbert Way. Oh, and it is fairly outlandish, to be frank. Leicestershire Live carry the hearsay from the Transfer Window Podcast, in which an “expert” suggests that Chelsea have “expressed an interest” in Schmeichel.
The United talk was one thing, which probably won’t happen anyway. Yet the Blues are likely to spend big on someone such as Nick Pope, if they rid themselves of the underperforming Kepa Arrizabalaga.
