If Leicester City are truly after a new striker, then £18 million could potentially buy them Brentford striker Ollie Watkins.

If Leicester City seriously want to sign Brentford’s Ollie Watkins, the Foxes will apparently have to see off Midlands rivals Aston Villa, the impressive Sheffield United, as well as Premier League opponents Crystal Palace.

It is no surprise whatsoever that the forward is coveted by premiership clubs, having netted a stunning 26 in 49 Championship appearances. Therefore he exceeded the much desired goal-to-two-game ratio. Whether he can transition that to top-flight status is always a question of possessing elite talent, determination and mental strength, along with the luck needed in pinnacle sport, such as being at the correct team for your skill set.

Leicester City eye new striker, £18 million may buy Ollie Watkins

To the end of playing for the right club, surely the Foxes are the most tempting choice for Watkins out of the four mentioned teams. They are also, possibly, the best fit for the versatile striker. He can play on either side with ferocity which would help with the increased amount of fixtures next season.

The 24-year-old’s vision and passing is adept enough to also play as a No.10 – which the Torquay-born man describes himself as, interestingly. Supplying three assists while being moulded into an out-and-out No.9 shows he has an eye for facilitating, to back the point further.

While Sky Sports claim Villa are preparing a bid, BirminghamLive suggests that Leicester could beat the Villans to the £18 million-rated attacker as they are keen and can offer Europa League football. Watkins does, however, already have a relationship with the Birmingham outfit’s boss Dean Smith, arguably giving them the edge. Yet the King Power side are certain bookmakers’ favourites.
