Leicester City’s apparent attempts to sign Francisco Trincao or Philippe Coutinho have seemingly been scuppered by Barcelona.

It would be a stunning headline: “Leicester City sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona”. Or, even: “Foxes secure Barca starlet on loan”, in the case of Francisco Trincao. Yet, sadly, it seems like neither transfer will now happen. Foxes of Leicester now explains why both switches are in doubt.

Are Leicester City’s Barcelona transfer moves finished?

First of all, Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu said a week or so ago that the Portuguese has an important future for the Spanish giants. Along with asserting that their player is “not for sale.” This possibly prompted the reported two-year loan approach then made by the King Power outfit.

Furthermore, on Tuesday the chief told assembled reporters at a press conference about Ronald Koeman that his club ‘do not want to sell players‘. In addition to saying the new manager can also keep Leicester-linked midfielder Philippe Coutinho, if the Dutchman likes what he sees from the Brazilian. After his goals against the side, that’s also a likely stance.

And finally, former Blaugrana star playmaker and now retired Portugal international, Deco, proclaimed Trincao as “quality”. He also added that the starlet has the skill set at his disposal to become a success at the 42-year-old’s former team.

Therefore it seems unlikely that the decisive and astute footballing superpower – until recently – would relinquish their asset. However, Deco did make the point to say “if”, with regard to the prospect getting a chance at Camp Nou. Maybe a loaning without a buy option might still be accepted.
