At long, long last it appears that Leicester City’s Algerian striker Islam Slimani will finally receive his awaited transfer away from the Foxes.

It never really worked out for Islam Slimani at Leicester City, and things were never likely to go his way in England. With no disrespect intended to the striker, he is a bit of a round peg knocking against a square hole. Slimani doesn’t fit into the current manager’s system – or plans, for that matter.

Nor was he suitable or required by a couple of other Foxes bosses that the Algerian previously served under. Furthermore, the forward will be 33-years-old next year.

Therefore Foxes of Leicester simply sees no future for Slimani on Filbert Way. Maybe he could’ve played a role as supersub goalscorer, yet Brendan Rodgers just doesn’t want or play with tall target men. Unfortunately for the forward.

Islam Slimani’s chance to leave Leicester City

Slimani was absolutely prolific for AS Monaco in Ligue 1 in 2019/20, so it’s a surprise that more teams aren’t in for him. However, Sport Witness quote talk of French side Rennes being in contact with the player. It is currently unclear whether Leicester have spoken to either parties.
