Liverpool v Leicester: Mo Salah ruled out of game for Reds
Egyptian footballing superstar Mohamed Salah is unavailable for Liverpool in their Premier League match against Leicester City.
Jurgen Klopp must be wondering what has happened to his squad. Leicester City have suffered some significant and harmful injuries to their team’s efficiency, but Liverpool’s defensive issues are quite something.
There is a chance that the Premier League champions’ entire first-choice defence could be unavailable. Although, Andy Robertson may represent Scotland this evening versus Israel, making him available on Sunday when the Foxes travel to Merseyside to play the Reds.
Yet Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been ruled out. While Joel Matip appears to be Klopp’s only remaining fit senior centre-back; but with Matip’s awful injury history, it wouldn’t be a total shock if he is unfit come Sunday. Expect up and coming players such as Nathaniel Phillips and Neco Williams to deputise.
Bad news for Liverpool before Leicester City clash
On Wednesday, The Sun reported that Mohamed Salah is not in contention to feature versus Leicester this weekend. Salah tested positive for COVID-19 whilst away on international duty with Egypt, where he has been self-isolating since Friday.
Salah will be allowed back into the United Kingdom on Thursday if he produces a negative result for coronavirus. However, apparently the 28-year-old must then go into quarantine until Monday.
Mido, a former Egyptian forward player, has criticised his compatriot for negligence over the incident. Mido cites Salah’s attendance at the Reds man’s brother’s wedding in Cairo before an “important match” for ‘putting the health of his team-mates at risk’. There is more at Daily Mail.
