Iheanacho is up for sale, Leicester chase prolific replacement
After his most encouraging season, it appears Leicester City will listen to offers for Kelechi Iheanacho. It may fund the purchase of Odsonne Edouard.
It’s true that up until 2019 a lot of Leicester City fans wouldn’t have given you a very flattering response when asked to appraise Kelechi Iheanacho. Not at all. In fact, many of the more astute observers still consider his signing promising, yet that he ultimately didn’t fulfill expectations.
Obviously the much-liked Nigerian hasn’t ever had a clear, long, uninterrupted run in the Foxes starting eleven. Although, when he did begin matches, he wasn’t overly impressive.
That was before 2019/20: this campaign the striker was often noted for his continued efforts to link play from midfield to attack, along with his unselfishness in setting-up other team-mates. Not to mention his thrilling appearances as a substitute.
The question for the King Power outfit shouldn’t be: is Iheanacho good enough to be a Leicester player? We know he is. I see the dilemma actually being that the Nigeria international is not a suitable long-term successor to Jamie Vardy.
Leicester City consider selling Kelechi Iheanacho, funding striker
On Sunday, Daily Mail claimed that Leicester City are planning on selling Iheanacho. Or at least that the East Midlanders are willing to listen to offers. With Europa League next term, it feels unlikely he will be allowed to leave.
Furthermore, the outlet says that the Foxes want to raise funds for Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard. While rivals Aston Villa are one of the clubs interested in the Premier League forward. Edouard is a prolific Scottish Premier League attacker, and many Blue Army members are keen on signing him. Naturally his former relationship with manager Brendan Rodgers is a plus, in addition to making a deal transfer more likely.
