Leicester 3-0 West Brom: Player ratings, MotM in easy win
By James Bishop
Leicester City blitzed a beleaguered West Brom and were comfortable victors in a crucial game to move them 4 points clear in the top four race.
After a few early chances from both sides, the Foxes started to dominate and took an early lead, as Youri Tielemans fed his compatriot Castagne through the middle, who laid it off to a gagging Jamie Vardy who finally, FINALLY scored a goal with a well taken finish.
It wasn’t long till Leicester had their second, and to add to unlikely events, it was from a corner! A deflection fell right onto Jonny Evans head; who simply could not miss
Castagne hit the post moments later, but Brendan Rodgers didn’t have to wait long till his side put the game to bed, as Vardy beat his man easily before unselfishly setting up Kelechi Iheanacho for yet another goal.
After that it was all plain sailing for the east Midlands team. Nothing happened in the second half as it seemed everyone on the pitch was very content with the scoreline.
An important victory, and one that creates some breathing space between them and the chasing pack, but which Foxes impressed and who had a timely return to form?
Leicester City player ratings
Kasper Schmeichel- 5
Did he do anything? I think I remember a shot that stung his gloves. He barely touched the ball as well, such was the dominance from his side. May as well have stayed at home.
Wesley Fofana- 6
Strong and assertive in his limited defensive duties and he was positive on the ball. Decent.
Jonny Evans- 7
Exactly the same. Some really nice passes and a good goal.
Caglar Soyuncu- 6
Strong, silky, that’s about it.
Timothy Castagne- 8 MotM
Goodness me, isn’t that a relief. The Belgian marauder is back! Constantly up and down, and some real moments of quality. Best I’ve seen him in a long time.
Youri Tielemans- 7
His usual self really. Lots of quality and hard work, it was clear to see that he enjoyed having Maddison back.
Wilfred Ndidi- 6
He shut down any West Brom attack with his endeavour and quality, would have been nice to him contribute to the attack more.
Luke Thomas- 6
Not bad, not great, but a lot of the play was on the opposite side to him, but he definitely looked sharp, with games coming thick and fast, he may have to feature more.
James Maddison- 7
Very impressive. It was unbelievable that he was given so much time! But he was slick, confident and really unlucky to not end up with a goal and assist. Good to see him in decent nick.
Jamie Vardy- 7
The last two games have been what we expect from him every week. Previously the veteran had looked disinterested and tired, but his work rate was second to none and some quality! Lovely finish which should give him some much needed confidence and some good play for Iheanacho’s goal.
Kelechi Iheanacho- 7
He won’t stop scoring! I’m glad that he keeps shooting because in previous times he’s dithered because he’s been so low on confidence, and his all-round play is always great.

Second half was a testimonial, so they did nothing.
