Leicester 2-1 Palace: Player ratings as Kelechi saves the day!

Leicester City came from behind to beat Crystal Palace to move seven points clear of West Ham in the race for the top four.

The Foxes looked to have made a decent start as Jamie Vardy had a few early openings, but that soon came crashing to a holt as Wilfred Zaha scored against Leicester, AGAIN, with a cool finish on the 10-minute mark.

Nothing really happened for the remainder of the half, which certainly jangled the nerves for every City fan.

However, Brendan Rodgers’ side looked like they had settled down after the break, and it showed as Timothy Castagne thumped home an equaliser after some neat work from Kelechi Iheanacho.

This didn’t seem to shake Palace though, and they were inches from taking the lead again, had it not been for an unbelievable tackle from Jonny Evans.

The last 15 minutes arrived and all of sudden chances started to come for Leicester City, and thankfully Kelechi Iheanacho saved his side again with an unbelievable snap-shot into the top corner.

And that was that. The rhetoric suddenly changed from bottlers to great characters, and Leicester are now firmly in pole position to finish in the top four.

It wasn’t the greatest performance ever, but that doesn’t matter in the slightest at this stage in the season.

Kasper Schmeichel– 5

Couldn’t do anything about the goal and didn’t have a lot of ball to make a positive or negative impact.

Wesley Fofana– 5

Decent on the ball. Culpable for Zaha’s goal, but that’s being harsh.

Jonny Evans– 7

Possibly the best tackle you will see all season! Kept his team in the game.

Caglar Soyuncu– 6

Quiet, strong when called upon.

Timothy Castagne– 6

Quiet in the first half as all the play was on the opposite flank. Wonderful finish for his first goal at the King Power!

Youri Tielemans– 6

Too weak in the build-up for the goal, which is unlike him. Never shied away from a challenge or possession after that, and his ball to Iheanacho for the equaliser was exquisite.

Wilfred Ndidi– 5

Didn’t really have a lot of defensive work to do in the first half, needs more confidence on the ball.

Luke Thomas– 5

He gave me conflicting emotions in the first half. At times he was really poor on the ball, however it was encouraging seeing him taking people on, which is something he needs to improve on.

James Maddison– 4

Just did nothing. Would be nice to see him try and smash it from long range every now and then rather than try to curl it top bins for the highlights reel every time, but that’s just me being petty. Valuable minutes however.

Jamie Vardy– 5

Apologies for the incoming cliché, but an inform Vardy would have had a second goal in as many games in the first 10 minutes, but sadly for Leicester fans he isn’t in good form. Unlucky with his effort late on, but overall very, very wasteful.

Kelechi Iheanacho– 8 MOTM

I LOVE THIS MAN!

Subdued first half, but fantastic awareness and strength to set up Castagne for the equaliser. But what a finish, if that was Messi we would be seeing it on every twitter account for the next week.

Both made a subtle contribution, I really like Albrighton from the bench whatever the scenario.
