Leicester City must raise their offer to sign the Serie A star following his recent performances that provide his club an upper hand in negotiation leverage.

Atalanta’s Robin Gosens scored his 10th Serie A goal against Sassuolo in their 1-1 draw in their last game. He has registered six assists with an overall match rating of 7.39 this season. The German international seems to have found a recent step-up in his already brilliant form after being linked with Leicester City.

Leicester City’s desperate need

The 26-year-old is a very adaptive player: he can play on either flank as a left or right midfielder and can play as a left-back. Recently in his last match, he was also playing as a left-wing back where he managed to find the net.

After the departure of Ben Chilwell, the left side of the field has been handled by several players, but only Luke Thomas and Christian Fuchs were naturally left-footed players in that position. That’s how Robin Gosens brings value to that side in defence.

As Brendan Rodgers has generally adapted to a 3-4-1-2 system, the German can play fluidly, switching his role between an LWB and LB pretty much like his former teammate of Atalanta, Timothy Castagne, on the other side.

Atalanta’s leverage on Gosens

The player has stayed in Italy since 2017. Apart from the Foxes, he has also been linked with Italian giants like Juventus and Inter Milan. Gosens and his father are prioritizing a move within Italy. As reported by Calcio Mercato, Atalanta will be smacking their lips to demand more now to sell the player at the end of this season.

Earlier reports suggest that the King Power club was ready to pay around €25 million for the transfer, but now the dynamics have changed. We know that City is not a club that would go much beyond €30m for a player; even though Youri Tielemans signed for approximately £40m. This is where the Italian clubs shall play a major factor while negotiating with Atalanta.
